PRIMARY PURPOSE
This position is an opportunity to support transformative social justice initiatives through our financial systems. This position works in tandem with the Executive Director to grow, diversify, and sustain organizational finances that support the NWICDC mission and vision. This position is an innovator who is able to work collaboratively to evaluate and improve organizational effectiveness. This position will lead our organizations financial and accounting operations. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Comptroller contributes to the financial and business planning of the organization that will grow and sustain our operations. The Comptroller will ensure effective financial management and reporting, set financial and administrative policy and direction, manage financial process, infrastructure and systems to ensure strong internal capacity and controls.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Work with the executive leadership team to build the business plan that will advance and sustain strategic opportunities aligned with the NWICDC vision and mission
● Produce and provide timely, accurate and complete financial reports for executive leadership, NWICDC Board of Directors, funding organizations and other external and internal stakeholders. Makes recommendations based on financial forecasts
● Direct short-term and long-range financial planning and budget development to support organizational strategic goals
● Prepares the NWICDC annual budget
● Lead the daily operations of the finance department, including leadership and management oversight to accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of accounts payable and receivable
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
● A strong commitment to the NWICDC mission, vision and values
● BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA and/or CPA highly preferred
● 5+ years of progressive experience in non-profit financial management, corporate finance, and accounting
● Demonstrated experience as a leader who is dedicated to the development of others and ability to provide day to day operations in directing staff Excellent organizational, strategic, and analytical skills with attention to detail as well as strategic thinking
● Knowledge and understanding of the Anishinaabe people and worldview
● Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
● Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (Quickbooks)
● Must be professional, punctual and reliable
Salary $100,000 - $110,000 DOQ/ Moving Expenses Negotiable
We also have a Senior Accountant position available $75,000 - $80,000 DOQ And a Finance Assistant position starting at $25/hour Full Time or Part Time
