Description
Job Summary:
The Payroll Assistant will compile and record employee time and payroll-related data and assist with Payroll duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with processing terminations and offboarding procedures within the payroll systems.
Distribute and collect timecards and approval signatures for each pay period.
Supports HR in the response to unemployment claims during peak work.
Compiles payroll data to include employee time, attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments from timesheets and other company records to prepare for weekly payroll processing.
Computes wages, expenses, accruals, and deductions for upload into electronic payroll system.
Processes employees’ paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
Supports record information, such as exemptions, transfers, accruals, and terminations, to update payroll records in the electronic payroll system.
Issues and records pay adjustments related to deductions, previous errors, or retroactive increases.
Maintain current knowledge of changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
Provide information and answer questions to employees on payroll matters
Assist with year-end review and validation of employee documents related to tax and ACA reporting.
Support as necessary: Review, analyze and verify vendor invoices.
Support as necessary: Collect, review, and file vendor invoices for payment.
Prepare benefit premium calculations with approval from Payroll Specialist
Support and review new hire data for completion and accuracy before including it in payroll.
Support review and entry of employee garnishment data.
Support Payroll Specialist and HR on benefit calculations and accurate deduction schedules.
Performs other related duties as requested.

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED certificate required; Associates degree preferred
3-5 years of payroll experience is required.
4+ years of experience with MS Excel required.
Physical Requirements:
Primarily consists of sedentary work with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or using a telephone
Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
Walking standing reaching pushing pulling lifting are required occasionally
Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small effects, small parts, and or operation of office equipment at distances close to the eyes
Willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements which may include but are not limited to medical, psychological, background, and substance abuse screening(s)
Responsibility for various tasks carried out in the corporate office or home office.
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds.
Travel required up to 5%, as necessary.
This position is office-based, located in Pinehurst, NC.
