The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track, adjunct faculty position to teach an undergraduate course on Employee Benefits & Retirement Planning in its Financial Planning Program for Fall 2022.
JOB TITLE: Assistant Professor if the candidate has a Ph.D; Instructor otherwise.
APPOINTMENT START DATE: Fall semester appointment begins August 22, 2022; classes begin August 29, 2022.

A non-tenure track, adjunct faculty position in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level to teach an undergraduate course on Employee Benefits & Retirement Planning. This course is a required class in LSBE’s Financial Planning major. The course is taught in-person on campus, and is currently scheduled to be offered in a once-a-week, evening format (Monday, 6:00 to 8:40 PM).
The candidate hired to teach this course will have responsibilities for managing all aspects of teaching the course, including course development, course delivery, grading, and communicating with students. The department will provide guidance on course content and syllabus. The candidate is also expected to hold office hours (in-person or virtual) to ensure access to students outside of class hours. All classes in LSBE must adhere to university’s guidelines pertaining to COVID protocols.
Approximately 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students are currently enrolled in the school’s programs. Both the undergraduate and graduate programs are AACSB-International accredited. The school is housed in a state-of-the-art building. LSBE has about 50 full-time faculty members in four academic departments: Accounting and Finance, Economics and Health Care Management, Management Studies, and Marketing. The School offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through activities of the Bureau of Business and Economics Research.
1. A minimum of a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, with substantive coursework in Accounting and/or Finance. Doctoral candidates with an ABD from an accredited institution, with substantive coursework in Accounting and/or Finance, are also eligible.
2. Work experience that demonstrates active involvement in the Accounting, Finance, or Financial Planning professions, since the time of the Master’s degree completion. An ABD or PhD in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline also fulfills this requirement.
3. 1. College-level teaching experience in Accounting, Finance, or related undergraduate courses.
